The 'Basic' workstation has been designed for individuals that are on a restrictive budget and are making smaller-scale models. These workstations will perform well for creation & animating but are limited when it comes to multi-core tasks, such as rendering, or larger-scale models that require a more powerful graphics card and more RAM.
Many of 3DS Max's features utilize a singular core (including creating, modifying, and animating 3D models), for this reason the 'Intermediate' workstation, with a turbo boost of 4.00GHz, will offer the best performance for creation and may be the preferred option if you have a dedicated render station.
The 'Expert' workstation offers a more well-rounded all-in-one system offering a turbo boost of 4.50GHz and 12-Threads which makes this system fast and effective for both creation and rendering.
The 'Render Optimised' system is designed primarily for rendering jobs using 88-Threads and a turbo boost of 3.60GHz. Although this workstation has a similar turbo-speed to the 'Expert' and 'Intermediate' machines it will offer similar performance for creation jobs and does not offer as much value as the 'Expert' machine, due to the price-point, for users needing a all-in-one solution.
We recommend having two drives which provides the best performance:
3.5" to 2.5" converters are automatically added here if SSDs are selected.
Graphics cards with DMS-59 connections will automatically add a 'DMS-59 to VGA Splitter' to your configuration (you can change this to a DVI splitter below if required). You can then plug in a VGA/DVI cable into the splitter.
Refer to the graphics card and/or monitor descriptions to see supported cable type.
Every workstation has an integrated 1GbE RJ-45 port for connection with your router/network, additional >2GbE options are available, but not required, for professionals on high-speed networks that need an ultra-fast connection. Wi-Fi options are available for individuals who cannot plug directly into their routers.
No external cables (Power cables/Monitor cables) are included by standard. If you require any additional cables you can find the standard power cable for the system below and additional monitor cables here.
Our monitors are graded cosmetically from A+ to B. View our Grading Guide for more information.
Monitor power cables are automatically added to your configuration as required for your monitor selection.
