What's in the box:

All of our rackmount servers are shipped in custom made packaging for maximum protection and secure transit.

We don't include power cables with rackmount servers as our customers usually have unique cabling requirements in their data centers or rack cabinet setups. However we do sell UK power cables separately in the peripherals section of the store.

Condition & Warranty

This refurbished Server is sold in excellent condition and is marked Grade A.

Having been decommissioned from a previous work space you can expect some light cosmetic markings (scuffs and scratches) around the outer chassis/case. The system is not brand new but any scratches or blemishes are purely cosmetic and obviously have very little effect on the technical function of the system, which has been cleaned both inside and out.

We use custom made boxes (matching the original manufacturer specification) and durable expanding foam cushioning to ensure that your product arrives safely. Take a look at our reassuring packaging process.

What is refurbished?

Our refurbished Servers have been usually been removed from working environments in large corporate design office or public sector facilities due to upgrade, lease end or bankruptcy. Every Server passes through our 6-step refurbishment process which provides a complete system overhaul from our trained technicians, rebuilding every component to ensure that your machine is technically as good as new.

All refurbished Servers from bargain hardware are supported by a 90-day warranty, covering all integral hardware and parts/components that affect the functionality of the equipment.

At bargain hardware we only deal with enterprise and business class hardware from the worlds leading manufacturers. Originally sold with lengthy 3-5 year warranties, the workstations we sell are designed with robust architecture for the ultimate reliability.

Our standard 90 day warranty provides sufficient time to allow you to fully 'soak test' your purchase and discover any unlikely, underlying issues. Modern systems have at most only a single mechanical part (the hard drive) and failure rates of the main electrical components (processor, memory and motherboard) are incredibly low.

It is well publicized that extended warranty packages are very rarely a good deal for the customer. The administrative costs involved in storing and tracking extended warranty details would increase our costs and therefore our prices. Feedback suggests that customers are more than happy with our quality and service, and would prefer us to maintain our highly competitive pricing.

Is extended warranty available?

For reasons detailed above, we dont have any standard extended warranty options. If this is likely to be an issue please contact us and we can talk about potential options.

How to start an RMA/Warranty Claim:

If you have any problems with your order you can find full contact details and instructions on our returns and refunds contact page.

  1. great 5 Star Review

    Insanely powerful for no money.

Add a riser and you can add your own nic as only has management port and 10gb sfp+ .

    Amazing value.

  2. Perfect for rendering! 5 Star Review

Posted by on 24th Aug 2017

Bought a bunch of these for 3d rendering/VFX and there is nothing out there that can compete with this in terms of price to performance!

Bought an SFP to RJ45 adpater from amazon which worked flawlessly and got networking up and running very quickly: https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B01AW5EHKG

BEWARE, BH always forget to send the screws for the rails!!!! I have had to chase them about this on two separate occasions (once with 40 machines and once with 10 machines) They need to sort there shit out...

  3. Amazing Value 5 Star Review

Posted by on 8th Aug 2017

Amazing value for money box, I went for this one over the Foxconn mainly for the PCI-E slot after confirming they both have 1x10Gb SFP+ port on board. The IPMI is super basic, monitoring and power only, which is a shame, but not exactly ground for complaint at this price. The only real thing I was disappointed to find was that there are no internal USB headers on the PCB but the 2 external ones on the back are suitable for 99% of the things I wanted to use this box for anyway.

Works perfectly with Nutanix CE out of the box, I was up and running in 30 minutes with no problems at all.

Echo earlier comments that you will want countersunk screws for your drives to attach them to the drive "sleds" which are just bits of metal that hook into the chassis - But they are solid and totally adequate. There are more than 4 ports available on the motherboard but I haven't bothered trying these out and there is no tidy PCB with the SATA connectors on etc.. so although you may be able to cable in more drives it is likely to restrict airflow and may not work very well.

Server is much more quiet than I was expecting from a presumably ex-cloud DC 1U server - Post boot up in to an OS it is actually quieter than my 1U switch in the same room - I haven't really got round to stressing it too much to see what the noise is like when it's really working - Although I suspect with so many cores I will never touch the sides on the CPU in normal usage.

Also disappointed that BH don't have any PCI-E risers for these anymore, all the cheap Chinese ones I can find are the "wrong way round" to fit the way this slot is orientated which is a shame. Still, at this price point you cannot grumble, i'm very close to buying another 3.

  4. Cheap, fast, quiet, easy to setup 5 Star Review

Posted by on 19th Apr 2017

I installed stock CentOS 7 in 15 minutes from a USB drive. Everything was auto-detected and once booted it is quite silent.

Graphical install works fine, GUI works fine, PCIe NIC worked flawlessly. I did not change any of the BIOS options (except boot device order).

EDID data was reported corrupt (all zeroes) but I believe there is no i2c device in this server (i2cdetect -l does not report anything). Default 1024x768 framebuffer worked fine and you will be using SPICE or VNC from a desktop anyway.

I got mine with four 2TB drives in order to setup a RAID10 LVM volume group.

Customer support was quick and efficient. I wish I had more options on shipping because DPD uses SEUR in Spain and SEUR is probably the worst parcel service in Toledo (Spain). Fortunately the server does not seem to be affected.

  5. The price is unbelievable and the customer support is even better! 5 Star Review

The price is unbelievable and the customer support is even better!

Once booted in a standard room the fans are quiet for a server (if you are buying this you will know how loud servers can get) and power usage seemed very low, I did not use the plugin monitor as I could not find it but the house monitor would suggest 100 – 200watts in different conditions.
I went for 2 x 2650’s and 64 (4gb sticks) of ram, PCie rider with NIC

The BIOS is very slow but certainly not a show stopper, I was able to setup RAID on my drives. I installed ESXI easily but unfortunately, I had issues where the RAID controller kept dropping drives out of RAID (even new ones). I contacted barginHardware and much like other reviews their support is S*** hot and have instantly offered to take care of me. A real customer focused business and I will be using them again.

The drive caddies that are in this server will require you to have countersunk drive screws to correctly secure (Luckily I found some).

  6. Nice server 4 Star Review

I ordered this server for some testing with hypervisors. So far I've booted FreeBSD 11 and Ubuntu 15.04 on it. Everything seems to work fine. I still want to try out VMWare VMvisor.

Mind you, this server is 85 cm long! It does not fit in my 19" rack. I'm still debating wether I'm going to take my angular grinder to it :) Or If I'm going to install it vertically.

The customer service was very helpful in offering to send me a pci riser, although I still need to receive it, as they became available hours after I had ordered my server.

  7. The Price to Performance is Amazing! 5 Star Review

Posted by on 8th Dec 2016

For a 1U machine this is actually a pretty quiet beast once it's booted and into an OS. I'm pleasantly surprised! Packs some awesome power into quite a small form factor at a really really great price.
If you're buying this for a home lab then this is definitely a good buy. It draws about 80W from the wall idle (2x HDDs, 2x E5-2650, 32GB RAM) and about 160W from the wall under stress test. I'm very happy with that.

10Gb SFP+ is a really useful added bonus as SFP cards cost quite a lot. Sadly though it's not compatible with ESXi out of the box, you need to add extra drivers to your install media for it to be detected (not too much of a big job). Shame it doesn't come with a PCIe riser so I had to buy one elsewhere.

The included remote management interface is very useful but on this model it lacks the 'remote console' feature as the hardware support is not available on this motherboard sadly. I'm not sure if you can fit a module to enable this but I'd find it very handy if you can.

Slightly lacking USB ports (only has 2) so when setting up you may need a hub to get you install media and peripherals plugged in.

Overall it's a really great piece of kit, highly recommended. EATX motherboard, 500W power supply, 6 (or 8, it looks like 8 but the sticker in the case says 6) possible drive bays. No internal USB header for those wanting to use unRAID (which it does run quite nicely). UEFI support.

I'm seriously considering buying another one!
